    The Scotland international’s £30million move to Napoli is a significant financial boost for the club, which is required to comply with Premier League financial rules. 

    While Ten Hag was delighted to see McTominay receive a warm welcome at Napoli, he admitted he had mixed feelings.

    “It’s a mixed bag. I’m delighted for him but there’s a feeling of not wanting to lose him,” Ten Hag said. “He’s Manchester United in every way, he’s very important for Manchester United.”

    “He’s been with the team for 22 years, but unfortunately because of the rules, players who grow up are more valuable, which is not right. But for everyone, for all parties, it’s a good deal.”
