Football Insider reports that Liverpool have approved a new contract for Colombian winger Diaz, who has been in red-hot form since the start of the 2024-25 season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in six games in all competitions.

Liverpool were previously unclear over Diaz’s future, and were prepared to consider any offers during the summer transfer window if they were offered a valuation in the region of £50million, amid interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. However, that has now changed.

The 27-year-old winger has won the hearts of new head coach Arne Slot and is undoubtedly a key figure in Liverpool’s attack for the 2024-25 season, netting twice at Old Trafford and a brace in the latest 3-0 home win over Bournemouth.

Diaz’s current deal, which runs until June 2027, is his first and only contract so far since joining Liverpool from FC Porto in 2022 for €45m plus €15m in add-ons.

Diaz’s form has been impressive so far, with 29 goals and 14 assists in 104 games in all competitions and a key part of the attacking play under former head coach Jürgen Klopp. ( vox888 )
