Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedoua Sanders insists he wants to do the best he can to prove himself right, without dwelling on the dramatic nature of the draft, NFL Network reports.  (  superwin636  )

Sanders, who was highly touted entering the 2025 draft but was overlooked by many franchises until the Browns decided to select him on Day 3 with the 144th overall pick (5th round), is now getting into his groove in minicamp, which begins Friday.

“I don’t try to think about that day because I had to practice, you know,” Sanders said. “That was all cool for the time, but now I have to practice. I have to learn the playbook.”

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who owns a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, previously reached out to Sanders to offer words of encouragement and remind him that success can come from anywhere in the draft, as it did when he was selected 199th overall by the New England Patriots in 2000.

“My story is similar. You know, I was taken in the last round of the draft,” Sanders said. “But we’re here now, so none of that matters. It’s just that day. I’m excited to be here and ready to work.”

Sanders said he remains focused on his game and getting to the next level, saying, “I can’t control any decisions other than that, so I’m always trying to do my best.”

‘It’s definitely day-to-day. I just find what I want to perfect and do the best I can. That’s the only thing I’m really focused on, just being there and being a leader, a teammate and doing what I need to do whenever I can. So I’m thankful for this opportunity. Things could’ve been a lot worse, but I’m still putting a smile on your face in front of all of you in this place right now.’

‘My job here is not to prove others wrong. I’m proving myself right, and I still have full confidence.’
