Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has revealed he has been impressed by No. 2 overall rookie wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, who is full of energy and football-playing ability, NFL Network reports. ( superwin636 )
“He’s got a lot of energy,” Lawrence said of Hunter. “He can run all day. He’s got a lot of energy. I like that. He’s got a lot of energy. He’s got a big motor. He’s like a kid. He can run all day. He never seems to get tired. You can never be satisfied with that.”
‘In terms of talent, it speaks for itself. His ball skills, his runs after the ball, he’s very explosive. I didn’t know how explosive he was to run in and cut outside. He looked very impressive. I’ve had a couple of connections. It’s only getting better. We’ve only been working together a few days so we’ve had a bit of time to work out the details.’
Lawrence is focused on building a relationship with Hunter, which could be a bit more challenging as the No. 2 overall pick is still learning the playbook on both offense and defense, but Lawrence is optimistic about it.
‘You have to find a solution. You play as much as you can, talk as much as you can, just to make him understand because obviously he is learning a new system, very talented, very smart, but it takes him a while to learn the system, so we try to make him understand so he can play quickly and freely and not have to think too much.’
Hunter used his energy to play a lot of snaps in college at both wide receiver and cornerback, playing 1,460 of 1,725 snaps, averaging 86.8 percent offensive snaps and 82.9 percent defensive snaps.
“I think it’s been good so far,” Jaguars coach Liam Cohen said. “One thing you notice is for someone who hasn’t played much football or worked out in two months because he’s been on tour, he can run all the time. You can tell he’s in good shape.”
