The situation has left Mike McCarthy’s future in doubt, but Parsons isn’t as concerned about the 31-year-old head coach as he is about teammate Zach Martin, veteran guard and other players.

‘Mike can leave the team and go wherever he wants. I feel bad for guys like Zach Martin and guys who might be in their final year or are going because those are the guys I want to give the trophy to. You want to win games and do great things with those types of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.

‘Those are the people I feel so sorry for and hurt about,’ Parsons said.

McCarthy spent 13 years with the Green Bay Packers, winning one Super Bowl, before joining the Cowboys in 2020. The 61-year-old head coach is entering the final year of his contract but has fallen to 3-6 after four straight losses.

Asked if McCarthy would be willing to stay with the Cowboys next season, Parsons said, “It’s beyond my ability.”
