The New York Jets have decided to offload defensive end Muhammed Wilkerson to save $16.75 million in 2018 salary, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. sudpung168  

The Jets drafted Wilkerson 30th overall out of Temple University in 2011 and signed him to a five-year, $86 million contract in the summer of 2016.

However, the 28-year-old defensive end has struggled in recent years, recording just eight sacks in 28 games over the last two seasons. Wilkerson’s negative attitude has caused a rift in the locker room, leading the Jets to sit him out of the final three games to avoid injury before releasing him.

Cutting Wilkerson would save the Jets $16.75 million in salary cap space due to the 28-year-old defensive end in 2018 and free up $11 million in salary cap space.  ( sudpung168 )
