The 37-year-old forward signed a one-year deal with Inter Miami from Gremio at the end of 2023 and has made it clear he will not be extending his deal by another 12 months, planning to retire from international and club football due to his physical condition after battling injuries since 2022.
‘There’s no better way to end it than to win today, finish third and think positively and improve on the negatives,’ the 37-year-old forward said. ‘It’s not time to talk about personal things about whether I’m going to continue playing.’
Suarez made his debut for Uruguay in 2007, playing 142 games, the second-highest total for any Uruguayan player, and scoring 49 goals.
