RB Leipzig confirmed on Sunday that 49-year-old sporting director Ruven Schroder has left the club and is set to join Austrian side Salzburg immediately, according to Kicker.

The departure of Schroder, who has been in the role of sporting director since 2023, is reportedly unrelated to RB Leipzig’s recent form, with Marco Rose’s side failing to win any of their last four games, including a 5-1 home defeat to Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Schroder has signed a contract with Salzburg until December 2028 and will work with current sporting director Bernhard Sonbuchner, saying: ‘I want to do everything I can with everyone here to make sure that the trend turns around as soon as possible.’

Salzburg have been underwhelming this season, collecting just 19 points from 13 games, 14 points behind leaders Sturm Graz, who have played two games less. ( wilson88 )
