Sabonis invests in new jerseys to console fans 123over

Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis has consoled fans by buying new jerseys for several of his biggest fans after the 28-year-old switched from No. 10 to No. 11 this season, NBC Sports Bay Area reported. 

About 50 Sabonis fans wearing No. 10 jerseys entered the Golden One Center ahead of the game against the LA Clippers, but were left baffled when they saw the 6-foot-10 center wearing No. 11, an early Christmas present from the Kings to the 28-year-old.

Sabonis arrived in Sacramento wearing No. 10 after the franchise retired No. 11 in honor of Hall of Famer Bob Davies. But Davies’ children gave Sabonis their blessing to wear No. 11 this season and to honor his father, Arvydas Sabonis, who is also a Hall of Famer.

“We just thought it would be nice to buy as many shirts as we can and help some of the fans,” Sabonis said. 

According to a Kings spokesperson, about 50 shirts were given out and social media notifications were posted early last week, but most Sabonis fans were unaware of the announcement until they walked into the Golden One Center. 

‘It’s great, they make my day better every game we play here. They cheer us on and that’s the main reason we win.’ 123over
