player1688 Micah Parsons insists he meant no disrespect to Mike McCarthy, but the 25-year-old has since apologized to the Dallas Cowboys head coach.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has apologized to Mike McCarthy after an interview that appeared to disparage his head coach ahead of Sunday’s game at division rival Washington Commanders, ESPN reports. player1688

After the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, Parsons said he didn’t feel bad about McCarthy’s situation, as the head coach could continue his career elsewhere if he were to leave Dallas when his contract expires, but he felt more sympathy for teammate Zach Martin, the veteran guard who is leaving the team empty-handed, before the 25-year-old linebacker apologized to his head coach.

“When I say ‘here,’ I think of the Dallas Cowboys,” Parsons explained. “I was in middle school and elementary school when Mike McCarthy was with the Packers, and I didn’t mention that. So when I say the Dallas Cowboys and what they’ve accomplished, I think of them, and I’ve been here.”

‘So I certainly don’t disparage (McCarthy’s) career and what he’s built for himself as one of the most successful coaches ever,’

‘I could have done better. I was angry and I didn’t finish the game and I didn’t think things through like I usually do. I don’t think people interpreted it that way. That was my fault. I lost (the game). I didn’t want to finish the game and I wanted to get out of the locker room. I’ll be more careful with my words. That’s my apology.’

Parsons also revealed that he met with McCarthy the following day and insisted that he had the utmost respect for the head coach.

“The most important thing is obviously how much I love Coach McCarthy,” Parsons said. “You never want to disrespect your coach or anything, but I think he understands that I’m always going to be a player first, right? I’m always going to put the people around me first.”

‘Those are the people I fought with. These are the people who depend on me and I depend on them. That’s how we raise our families. That’s what I want to say. We figure it out together. It’s good and it works out.’  ( player1688 )
