The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a trade for Amari Cooper, sending a third- and seventh-round draft pick in 2025 for the 30-year-old wide receiver and the same sixth-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns, NFL Network reports. player1688
Cooper had been linked with a trade since the offseason, with the Browns in talks with the San Francisco 49ers over a Brandon Aiyak trade before the 26-year-old wide receiver agreed to a new deal with the Buffaloes, but Cooper’s name remained in the trade conversation until he eventually ended up with the Buffaloes.
“We have appreciated Amari’s hard work, professionalism and contributions on the field throughout his two seasons with us,” Browns general manager Andrew Barry said in a statement. “He has created many memorable moments with us and is an important part of our 2023 playoff team. We wish him the best in Buffalo as he continues his NFL career.”
Cooper was traded for the third time in his career, having been traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 and then to the Browns in 2022. He has caught 24 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns this season in Cleveland, which is off to a dismal 1-5 start.
The five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver will become quarterback Josh Allen’s number one target following the departure of Stefon Diggs and the release of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, with Khalil Shakir playing the slot and taking some of the pressure off rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman.
The Browns previously restructured Cooper’s $18.79 million contract from a $20 million salary to a signing bonus, meaning the Bills would be responsible for just $806,667 in salary for the wide receiver in the trade. ( player1688 )
