Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig for an initial fee of €55m plus €7m in bonuses, but the 26-year-old midfielder struggled to register and missed the first two games of the season against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao. 

Olmo made his debut in the away game at Rayo Vallecano before scoring the winner late on to give the Blaugrana a 2-1 win and the 26-year-old midfielder would net another in the 7-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid. 

‘Personally, I’m not upset because I know it will be fixed. I want to play, but it’s a dream debut and that’s all I have left,’ Olmo said.

Olmo also spoke about the process of moving to Barcelona, ​​revealing that when he learned of the Blaugrana’s interest he knew immediately that this was the only place he wanted to play football.

‘In the last stretch (of Euro 2024) I knew Barcelona were interested in signing me, but I didn’t want to lose focus. Then I went on holiday for a week and when I came back we closed everything. It happened really fast and two weeks after the European Championship we had an agreement.’

‘I always try to give my best with every team and now at Barcelona we have the goal of winning. Whoever comes in must have the determination to win. If they don’t, then they’ve come to the wrong club. I want to win with this club and that’s why I’m here.’ 

The 26-year-old midfielder also revealed what Hansi Flick has asked of him since joining the club and how it has helped him feel comfortable returning to the Blaugrana.

‘Flick has a big role to play, his idea is to play as a number 10. The adaptation is perfect. I have a good relationship with Flick and he is very clear about what he wants from me.’
