The Telegraph reports that Bakayoko has emerged as one of Newcastle United’s potential transfer targets in the next transfer window after Eddie Howe’s side struggled for form in the 2024-25 season.

Bakayoko exploded with form for PSV Eindhoven last season, scoring 14 goals in 47 games in all competitions, attracting interest from a number of top clubs, but a move never materialised. He has continued his fine form this season, scoring five goals in 14 Eredivisie games.

Bakayoko is reportedly a favourite of Howe and Newcastle’s recruitment department but convincing PSV to let him leave in January will be no easy task unless a strong enough offer is made.

Newcastle had previously shown interest in Brentford’s Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo and Bournemouth’s Ghanaian winger-forward Antoine Semenyo, but were unable to meet their £50-60m targets in January. ( pgzen )
