Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has revealed his top goal is to bring Matthew Staffard back to the starting quarterback position, although the organization will allow the 37-year-old to talk to other teams this offseason, NFL Network reports. mungmee168
“When you talk about the bottom line, those are the real challenges,” McVay said. “Because there’s no difference between us wanting him to continue to be our leader and our quarterback. The interesting and challenging issue here is, as a head coach, how do you consistently look at the short-term and the long-term and figure out what that looks like?”
‘There’s no argument and no twisting about anybody wanting him to be our quarterback. There are so many different levels to this. You have to be able to say, how do we build continuity? How do we support him? How do we make sure he gets what he deserves against all those things? So at the end of the day, we have something in mind, he has something in mind, and there’s no right or wrong. And at the end of the day, you’re saying there’s a lot of interest because this guy is an incredible player.
Stafford, who is entering his 17th season and has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, agreed to a restructured contract before the 2024 season that will see the Rams pay the veteran quarterback $23.5 million guaranteed, with the majority of that money due in 2025, allowing both sides to reevaluate at a later date.
