The Chicago Bears have agreed to release defensive end DeMarcus Walker and tight end Gerald Everett to free up salary-cap space ahead of the March free-agent market, ESPN reports.( mungmee168 )

The move would save the Bears about $10.75 million in cap space, with Walker, a 30-year-old defensive end, set to make $5.2 million in the final year of his contract and shouldering $5.916 million in salary-cap space.

The Bears signed Walker to a three-year, $21 million deal with $15.65 million guaranteed through the 2023 offseason. He started 29 games over two seasons in Chicago, including 17 in 2024. He had a career-high 16 quarterback hits, eight tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Everett signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Bears in March under offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, who previously worked with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, but has barely played, catching just eight passes for 36 yards.
