Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has revealed the bad news during his pre-Premier League match against Chelsea on Saturday that Fatawu has suffered a serious injury while returning from international duty with Ghana last week.

“It’s not a good thing, it’s a serious injury, he’s got a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) that’s going to keep him out for the rest of the season,” Cooper said of Fatavu.

“It’s a real loss. These things happen in sports, especially football, but it’s still a serious injury. To have a young player is terrible for him and for us as well.”

Leicester signed Fatavu from Sporting on an initial loan deal last season, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League, with the Foxes now activating a €10m buy-out clause plus €7m in add-ons. ( player1688 )
