Dallas Cowboys defensive end Carl Lawson, 29, believes he is still one of the league’s most productive players after returning from a hamstring injury, NFL Network reports. 

After moving from the Cincinnati Bengals to a three-year deal with the New York Jets in the 2021 offseason, Lawson suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during training camp that kept him out of his first full season as Gang Green. He returned for the full season, but played in just six games and never started in 2023.

Asked how much potential he still has left, Lawson replied: ‘A lot. I feel like a younger player. My potential hasn’t been reached yet because of injuries or circumstances or teams I’ve been in but haven’t fit in.’

“I’ve been a very effective pass rusher in this league, but on a losing team, so this is an opportunity to be on a team that can step up in the game and I can show what I can do. Now that I’m back, I’m excited.” 

“I had a lot of other opportunities this offseason. I was looking for the right opportunity,” Lawson explained before signing with the Cowboys. “I didn’t want something that wasn’t the best situation for me and the team that I was coming into. The stars aligned.”  ( wintime999 )
