Jaylen Wright, 22, said he is ready to play more in his second year with the Miami Dolphins, believing he can become one of the league’s top running backs, NFL Network reported.  kindee1688

The former fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft class barely played much in his rookie season, but now he has a chance after 33-year-old running back Raheem Mostert signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving Devon Aachen in his shoes. 

“I really feel and I know I can be a top back in this league,” Wright said. “I feel like just my skills, my ability and the system that I’m in, it’s made me stronger. It’s a long season. I’ve got to stay on track, do what I have to do every time I touch that rock. Every time the ball comes to me, I just play. I’m excited. I’m very fortunate to be in this position. This is going to be a great year.”

Wright is a speedy 40-yard dasher with a time of 4.38 seconds, but the Dolphins’ high-powered offense struggled in the 2024 season and the rookie running back struggled in the backfield. He finished the season with 68 carries for 249 yards, behind Mostert and Eachen, who rushed for 85 and 203, respectively. 

“I’m going to be more involved this year,” Wright said after just three catches for eight yards in his rookie season. “Be more involved in everything, the running game, the pass defense, everything. So it’s going to be great.” ( kindee1688 )
