At the artificial turf field of the Bangkokthonburi University Football Potential Development Center, the Thai national men’s football team trained to prepare for the 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup semi-finals, the first match against the Philippines on December 27.

In this training session, Masatada Ishii, head coach of the Thai national team, adjusted the training plan to an artificial turf field so that the players could adjust and get used to the artificial turf conditions before going to play at Rizal Memorial Stadium, home of the Philippine national team, which is also an artificial turf field, for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Before the training session, “Worachit Kanitsribumphen”, the midfielder of the Thai national team, said, “Everyone had a rest yesterday. Today, we returned to normal training to prepare ourselves before playing the first match in the semi-finals. Personally, my physical condition is quite good because I played a full game in the last match and had a rest yesterday. Today, I came to practice and it should be better.”

“Playing on artificial turf, I think there might be some obstacles at first, but if we try to practice or go play and adjust, I don’t think it will be a problem. This Philippine team has many foreign players. Many players have good potential. If we don’t take it lightly, I think we can win.”

“I think the advantage is that we get to go first. In the second match, we will play at home and we will have fans. The first match may be on artificial grass, but if we win or do not lose, in the second match we will play at home on real grass and with fans. I think we will be able to come back and get revenge.”
