“Are we open to negotiations? Let me put it short and simple: every decision I make will be in the best interests of the Giants first,” the Blues general manager said. 

“If someone makes an offer we can’t refuse, whether our organization will accept a downgrade or not depends on who the board of directors intends to choose.”

“Or if there’s a guy who’s a good fit for the No. 2 draft, the answer to that question is obvious. We want to pick someone who’s going to be a Hall of Famer, so you can’t hesitate.”
