Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, 34, said he’s excited to work with Jameis Winston and is ready to help the 28-year-old be the best he can be, even though he’s not used to playing in a backup role, NFL Network reported Thursday.  ( Kindee1688 )

Dalton, an 11-year veteran, signed a one-year deal with the Saints, the fourth team of his career after stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears, to serve as Winston’s backup, and Dalton said he is ready to give the 28-year-old all the support he can. 

“This is what he does, and I’m here to help him in any way I can,” Dalton said. “So I’m excited to work with him, excited to be in the same room and see everything I can do to help him be the best player he can be.”
