Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase, 25, predicted that he or Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson would be the first wide receiver to reach 2,000 receiving yards, CBS Sports reported.  kindee1688

Chase has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in his first four career seasons, recently winning the Triple Crown with 127 catches, 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns before becoming the NFL’s highest-paid wide receiver after signing a new deal with the Bengals. 

While Jefferson has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in his first five career seasons in Minnesota, his best season came in 2022, when he caught 128 passes for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. Chase predicted that he or Jefferson, his former teammate at LSU, could become the first wide receiver in NFL history to reach 2,000 receiving yards.

“Me and Justin, for sure,” Chase told CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin when asked which wide receivers are most likely to reach 2,000 receiving yards. 

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson currently holds the record for most receiving yards in NFL history with 1,964 in 2012. Former LA Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is the only wide receiver to surpass 1,900 receiving yards with 1,947 in 2021 and won the Triple Crown award, ahead of Chase. 

Other star wide receivers who have had impressive performances include Tyreek Hill, who had 1,799 receiving yards in 2023 with the Miami Dolphins, and CeeDee Lamb, who had 1,749 receiving yards in the same year with the Dallas Cowboys. 

For Chase, he may be in a better situation than other wide receivers because he’s in his prime and he’s also playing alongside Joe Burrow, one of the league’s best quarterbacks. ( kindee1688 )
