Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, 33, posted on X to officially confirm his retirement from the German national team on Monday, according to ‘Diario Sport’. ( wilson88 ) 

Both Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller have quit the Germany national team after Euro 2024, with Gundogan and Manuel Neuer reportedly considering their futures with the Germans, with the 33-year-old midfielder confirming his decision on Monday. 

‘After two or three weeks of deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to end my international career,’ Gundogan posted. 

‘I look back with great pride on the 82 international caps I have played for my homeland, a number I could not have imagined when I made my senior international debut in 2011,’

Gundogan made his Germany debut in October 2011 under Joachim Löw, who brought him on for Philipp Lahm for the final six minutes of a 3-1 win over Belgium in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Düsseldorf.
