Greenard sympathizes with Jones after heavy criticism hotfuns

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard, 27, expressed his sympathy for Daniel Jones after the New York Giants quarterback came under fire in Sunday’s 6-28 home loss, NFL Network reported. ( hotfuns )

Jones was a dismal performer, completing 22 of 42 passes for 186 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, five sacks on 18 attempts, and posting a 44.3 overall rating as the Blue Devils fans booed him in a 28-6 loss to the Vikings, with Greenard expressing sympathy for the 27-year-old quarterback.

“We started to feel a little bad for him because we kept taking away everything he wanted to do,” Greenard said after the Giants win. “Hey, it’s nice to be on the other side, and our job is not to be on that side.”

The Giants offense made a lot of mistakes and lacked consistency. They scored just six points on two field goals from Graham Geno, while the offense, driven by Jones, gained just 240 total yards. 

Both Jones and other Giants players were the target of boos from the Blue Devils fans during the game, and Greenard, who played for several seasons with the Houston Texans, understands the fans’ feelings. 

‘I’ve been booed walking onto the pitch and your attacking team hasn’t helped and now you think it’s an away game,’ Greenard said. ‘But at that time, you knew how we were going to attack him and where he was in his career, based on the scheme he had, you knew whatever contract was going to happen.

‘So we understand that he’s dealing with a lot of different things and if we can add some extra aspects, you know, to put pressure on him to read the game a little bit quicker, to make sure he’s not too sure and comfortable in the pocket. It was a great feeling to see that in the first couple of drives.’
