Fofana agrees to join Marseille in summer pgzen

But now Fofana is back in action and has a chance to start all three Premier League games this season, which is the direction the player wants to go.

However, the 23-year-old defender revealed over the summer that he had a secret crush on Olympique Marseille after OM tried to contact him and negotiate a move to the Stade Velodrome.

“The negotiations really appealed to me. I would be lying if I said I didn’t consider it. It was a persuasion from (Mehdi) Benatia, Marseille’s sporting director.

“It really resonated with me and I think everyone knows why. I’ve thought about it but I also look at the current targets, which are to be successful at Chelsea, to keep playing regularly and to be a key player for the club.

“But for OM, we may see in the future one day. I still have a contract until 2029 and we will know after that.

“I have never hidden it from him that (Marseille) is my city. I am an OM fan. We will see if I end up at Marseille or if I stay at Chelsea for the rest of my career.”
