Dortmund said on the club’s official website that all parties involved had reached a preliminary agreement for the 20-year-old’s transfer on Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, United States, with only the details of the contract still to be worked out.
“Jamie Gittens’ career is a clear example of the development process at Dortmund,” Dortmund CEO Lars Ricken said of the move.
“We discovered him at a young age, brought him in on a free transfer, continued to develop him in our youth academy and gave him the opportunity to play at the highest level with the first team.”
“He has repaid the trust with determination, performances and goals. This move back to England is a valuable asset for us and we wish Jamie all the best in his future career.”
For Gittens, who moved from Manchester City’s academy to Signal Iduna Park in 2020, he has made 76 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals, and 23 appearances in the UEFA Champions League, scoring five goals.
