The Miami Dolphins have agreed to a multi-year extension with head coach Mike McDaniel, 41, after the Dolphins signed him to a four-year deal in the 2022 offseason, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports. ( vox888 )

McDaniel has worked with current San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan for 11 years, including serving as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2021 after stepping up from his role as the team’s running game coordinator from 2017-20. 

The 41-year-old head coach has brought an exciting offense to Miami, leading the Dolphins to a sixth-highest ranking in yards and 11th-highest scoring in the 2022 season and a top-10 finish in yards and points last season. The Dolphins haven’t finished in the top 10 in either category since 2001.

McDaniel also led the Dolphins to back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since 2000-01 and has been working well with general manager Chris Greer, who the Dolphins rewarded with a multi-year deal.
