cup1688 Caleb Williams also sees the positives of the change in offensive coordinator from Shane Waldron to Thomas Brown, which has made the Chicago Bears’ offense more efficient.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is still optimistic after the Chicago Bears lost four straight games, especially with the return of a spirited offense after Thomas Brown took over as interim head coach in place of Shane Waldron, NFL Network reported. cup1688
Brown helped the Bears’ offense become more balanced and helped rookie Williams adjust to the rhythm of the game by scoring two touchdowns on 11 plays, and Chicago held the ball for more than 12 minutes and still had a chance to beat the Green Bay Packers late in the game, but unfortunately Cairo Santos’ 46-yard field goal was blocked and they lost 19-20 to drop to 4-6.
‘It starts with (Brown) stringing things together and doing a good job of that and getting everybody in a rhythm without necessarily thinking about what’s next,’ Williams said. ‘Or anything like that. We kind of have an idea of what’s next and then you go out there, you make plays and you play efficient football that gives you the best chance to win.’
The Bears showed real efficiency in their play compared to previous games, averaging 5.8 yards per play after averaging just 2.4 yards per play in a 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots, which led to Waldron’s release. Chicago also completed 9 of 16 third downs, a significant improvement from the 1 of 14 they completed in Week 10.
“We didn’t reinvent the wheel in the three or four days (of practice) that Thomas became the offensive coordinator and the play-caller,” Williams said. “I think the decisiveness, I think it all comes from, one, our meetings and how we do things. I think it comes from calling plays faster and being able to go there without feeling like you’re rushed or feeling like you have to rush and get the ball and get things like that.”
‘I think all those little things, the details of the routes, the details of the blocking, the details of the running back routes and how we do things, I think those things led to what happened last week.’
The Bears may be 4-6, but their season isn’t in vain, and Williams believes they can still turn things around, starting with Sunday’s game against the division rival Minnesota Vikings.
‘I miss communication, I miss attitude and I think we just have to execute and pay attention to the details, for myself and for the whole team. I think those three things are going to be very important for us in this competition.’ ( cup1688 )
