cosmo365 Alex Ogletree was traded to the New York Giants from the L.A. Rams in order to free up his salary cap to fund Aaron Donald’s long-term deal.

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to trade middle linebacker Alex Ogletree to the New York Giants for two 2018 draft picks about a week before the free-agent market opens, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.  cosmo365

The Giants, who were looking to add a new middle linebacker, reached an agreement with the Rams, which offered Ogletree 4th and 6th round picks in the 2018 draft, along with the same 7th round pick. 

The Rams drafted Ogletree 30th overall out of Georgia in 2013. He signed a four-year, $42 million contract in October and was a key part of the Rams’ defense that surprised the team last season by winning the NFC North Division. 

Ogletree, 26, has 95 tackles in five years in the NFL and the Giants hope he will help improve their front seven. However, Rams star running back Todd Gurley is not happy with the trade, but the Rams decided to trade Ogletree because they wanted to expand the salary cap in order to sign top defensive tackle Aaron Donald to a long-term deal.
