Napoli are trying to sign Gilmour this summer but have had an initial bid of around €9.5m rejected by Brighton.

Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has revealed that Napoli are planning to hold talks and submit a new offer for Brighton to consider next week, in line with Antonio Conte’s wishes.

Conte already knew Gilmour from their youth set-up at Chelsea, with Conte sacked in 2018 and Gilmour leaving Stamford Bridge permanently in 2022.

Meanwhile, Napoli are considering a move for Frosinone defensive midfielder Marco Bresciaini, unrelated to the Gilmour deal. ( superwin636  )
