Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steiken has more bad news, especially with his struggling defense, after DeForest Buckner was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. ( sakidbet ) 

The Colts sent Buckner for an MRI scan after suffering an ankle injury in Sunday’s 10-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers, before the 30-year-old defensive tackle was placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four games against the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. 

Buckner has been one of the most durable tight ends in the NFL since entering the league as the seventh overall pick in the 2016 draft with the San Francisco 49ers, missing just two previous games due to an ankle injury – once in 2016 and once in 2020 due to COVID-19 – before being placed on injured reserve for the first time in his career.

Buckner is reportedly set to return for Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 7 after recording seven tackles and 1.5 sacks in the first two games of the season.
