Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt, 28, is looking forward to Saturday’s ‘Der Klassiker’ clash with Bayern Munich as an exciting and intense game, with his team aiming to lead their team to the first victory of the season against the Bavarians, according to Sky Germany on Sunday. 

Borussia Dortmund restored their confidence in their latest outing by beating Freiburg 4-0 at home, making it eight wins in all competitions at Signal Iduna Park this season, before the Black and Yellows welcome a 10-point lead against the Bavarians next Saturday.

‘It will be an exciting game, the fans are always happy to be in the stadium when Bayern come. It will be a very intense game. We were very bad at home last year but managed to win away from home after so many years and now we are focused on beating Bayern Munich at home again, but we have more important things to do in the Champions League first,’ Brandt said.

Bayern Munich currently lead the Bundesliga, six points clear of second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt and 10 ahead of Borussia Dortmund, but the Black and Yellows have a chance to close the gap next Saturday from Brandt’s perspective following a fine home performance this season. 

‘Playing at home is different, it’s always been like this because this stadium is a special place with the fans behind us. Now we come back after the international break and have another chance to end the streak (of six consecutive away defeats) on Wednesday (at Dinamo Zagreb),’ said the 28-year-old midfielder ( pgzen )
