Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney has expressed optimism about a deal with Aaron Rodgers but admitted the negotiations are taking longer than initially expected, ESPN reports. betflikth99
“We kept hearing that he was, I guess, heading our way,” Rooney told ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “And that seems like all the signs are positive.”
However, Rooney admitted the process had taken longer than anticipated since Rodgers and the Red Devils first met about two weeks ago, saying: ‘I didn’t imagine it would take this long.’
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin previously said they had no timeframe on signing Rodgers but were unwilling to wait indefinitely for the 41-year-old quarterback’s decision, with Rooney reiterating the same sentiment: “Not forever, but not for long.”
