Cechko was a target for Arsenal last summer but was keen to sort out his future before Euro 2024 and has since signed a new deal with Leipzig.  ( vox888 ) 

However, Arsenal journalist Charles Watt has now reported that the north London side are still keeping tabs on the Slovenian forward. 

“Arsenal were keen to bring him in during the transfer window but the player decided to stay and signed a new contract with Leipzig.”

“Although Arsenal were disappointed by the decision, I do not believe it will damage the relationship between the club and the striker in terms of future transfers.”

“I’m sure Arsenal understood the player’s decision at the time because, to be honest, it made a lot of sense from a footballing point of view and from a developmental point of view. Staying at Leipzig was the right decision.”

“Here we’ll see how things change. He’ll decide it’s the right time to move to the next level and it wouldn’t surprise me if Arsenal come back for him.”

“Arsenal still want to sign a striker, but they don’t want to sign just to get a striker. That’s why they didn’t sign a striker last summer.”  

This season, the 21-year-old Cechko has continued his impressive form for Leipzig, scoring six goals and providing three assists in six appearances in all competitions.
