The 32-year-old midfielder is entering the final season of his contract at Old Trafford and is unlikely to sign a new deal, with his role now believed to be that of a back-up to rising star Cobbie Menu.  ( vox888  )

That’s why Reimer, as a Danish, wanted Eriksen to help in a league where the competition is not as intense as in England, because he believed that the Danish international, who has played 134 matches, would be able to survive easily, and he would also come to share his experience and position himself as a role model for the young stars. 

With just over four weeks left, that’s more than enough to convince the midfielder, who has suffered from a heart condition, to give it a try. 

“I have no new news to share with you, or at least: I will not give you details about each arrival and departure. It is an internal process,” he said after the 2-1 win over Royal Antwerp at the weekend.

“But another way to say it is that we are working hard to strengthen our squad in many cases, right up until the transfer window closes on September 6.”

“ I can tell you again that we have several options if we can’t close down the main target, but let me tell you, the intention is very high .”   

Eriksen played in three games during the pre – season tour of the United States, alternating with youngster Tobias Collyer, but started just once.
