Yin-Nicha Kanpai, a 21-year-old student from the University of Maryland, USA, who won the playoff in the qualifying section at Springfield Country Club in Virginia, said, “I’m glad to be playing in an LPGA tournament and it’s a major US Women’s Open. I’m excited because I’m still playing at the collegiate level and don’t know what an LPGA tournament is like. The course is quite difficult, so you can’t make mistakes. But if you make a mistake, you have to make the right mistake. Before coming here, I practiced hitting long irons because I already knew the course was long.”
Meanwhile, Jenny-Napat Lertsatwattana, a 23-year-old from the Epson Tour, who came through the qualifying section at Druides Hill Golf Club in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, said, “I’m very excited. I didn’t expect much during the qualifying round because it was my first time applying and I wanted more experience. But I happened to hit well, so I made it through. Everyone wants to compete in this event. Before coming here, I prepared by practicing both long and short balls.”
Nicha Kanpai and Naphat Lertsatwattana will play alongside nine other Thai female pros playing on the LPGA Tour: Atthaya Thitikul, Ariya-Moriya Jutanugarn, Paphangkorn Tavatanakit, Chanettee Wannasaen, Pajaree Anantnarukarn, Jasmine Suwannapura, Apitchaya Yubol and Wichanee Meechai.(foryou1688)
